Her face has lit up Times Square, she’s modeled in the world’s top fashion capitals and featured in campaigns for Revlon, L’Oreal and Versace. Behind the gloss, though, this is a model with a heart who as an Angel Ambassador for one of the world’s leading charities is committed to education projects to help transform the country of her birth.
Now supermodel and philanthropist Nicola Breytenbach Steiner has signed to public relations and marketing firm Brand Ambassadors. Nicola, who lives in New York City, has decided to join the Brand Ambassadors family to help promote her growing portfolio of interests and charity work with the Diamond Empowerment Fund. Founded by hip hop mogul Russell Simmons, D.E.F. supports education initiatives in diamond producing countries and Breytenbach Steiner is its first Angel Ambassador.
“I am delighted to have joined Brand Ambassadors and look forward to working with Thulane and his team to expand the Nicola Breytenbach brand in South Africa and beyond. “It is comforting to know that I can rely on the expertise and professionalism for which Brand Ambassadors is known, especially in view of my role as African Angel Ambassador for the Diamond Empowerment Fund,” said Breytenbach Steiner.
“We are excited to have a supermodel of Nicola’s caliber as one of our newest clients. We will strive to support her with all her endeavors both in South Africa and the United States,” said Thulane Hadebe, Director of Brand Ambassadors.
The sought after Durban-born model, who was spotted by her mother’s hairdresser at fourteen and got her big break when she was booked as French luxury house Christian Dior’s in-house model, has enjoyed a modeling career beyond her wildest dreams. She’s graced the pages of the international editions of Cosmopolitan, Elle magazine, Vogue and American Marie Claire and worked alongside international supermodels Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer.
The highlight of her modeling career was landing a R4-million contract with Revlon as the face of their Absolutely Fabulous campaign – leading to that traffic stopping billboard at New York’s Times Square. Signed to the Donald Trump owned modeling agency, Trump Models, Nicola has made cameo appearances in series two and three of the popular reality TV series, The Apprentice, and starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Blood Diamond.
The glamour girl wed US businessman Ben Steiner in Saint-Tropez in 2008 and the couple have two children. Nicola channels a lot of her energy and time in supporting the Diamond Empowerment Fund as the organization’s first Angel Ambassador along with being the D.E.F.’s Coordinator and Board Member.
